First spin of the New Year

Because of packing, moving and the holidays. It had been about a month and a half since I spun any yarn. So today I decided to break out some yummy holiday inspired batts that I ordered from my friend Brittany's Etsy Shop, back in the beginning of December.

Here is the lovely fiber I received from her. Emma loved the batts to, so she decided to use them as a pillow.


I spun the batt on the right in to the below yarn. I got about 100 yards.


I also spun this two ply yarn out of kettle dyed baby camel down and mulberry silk roving.

Day #8 Fiberuary Challenge 2021

This year I will....make more time for knitting and crafting. My soul NEEDS to be creative on a regular basis. I can't really explain it but when I can't do this I feel out of balance and like something is missing from me. That's why this year our family has made every Sunday "craft day". Anthrax shots suck!

On Friday we had a three mile road march with our IBA and Weapons. Luckily it wasn't timed and we didn't have to do it in formation. I am the second shortest person in the unit, so I have really small strides. It took me an hour and 20 minutes to finish. I just took my time. Normally on the PT test I walk 2.5 miles in 35 minutes. But I was in no rush to finish with a 17 pound vest and 8 pound weapon. To top off the day we got anthrax shots. It was my first one in a series on 6 shots. Let me tell you it feels like they are trying to kill me or something! The actual shot didn't hurt, I could barely feel the need go in. about 20 seconds after I got the shot my arm felt like it was on fire! That only lasted for about 2 minutes and then I was good to go, until yesterday. I looked at the spot where I got the shot and it is a huge bump and red spot there. It is also really sore. Emma's Calorimetry

I made a Calorimetry for my daughter in November when I was home on leave out of some Patons SWS Wool. She loves it but said it was to itchy. She has very sensitive skin and she asked if I could make one out of soft yarn. How can I say no to someone that says they LOVE everything I knit because it is made with my love in it?!? I had some extra Bernat Bamboo yarn lying around, in pink of course so I made her another. Here is a picture of her wearing it.
