Work In Progress Wednesday 23 April 2014

Image
It's been a while since I did a knitting work in progress Wednesday and boy do I have a few things in progress. I'm still slowly and hear and there plugging away on the Boxy Sweater that I started in October. I still have another 9 inches of stockinette stitch before I even start the arms. And did I mention its in fingering weight yarn?? I am also knitting a second Terrafrom shawl with sparkle sock yarn that I dyed myself. I am going to add a second skein of some sparkle sock yarn that I also dyed myself, that is a little bit light then the current skein to make it longer and give it a cool ombre effect. My little sister is having a baby girl at the end of August so I am crocheting her a blanket. I am using some Cotton ease yarn that I have had for about 5 years, since they live in Virginia and the baby is being born in the summer I wanted to make a light weight blanket she can use right away. I also started a Bias Wrap in the left over Handmaiden mini maiden s...

Emma's crocheted flower hat

Image
I had made a hat like this for Emma last year, but it got washed in the washing machine by grandma (its not supposed to, lol) and it got extremely stretched out and no longer fits. So she asked me to make her another one. It's made out of bamboo yarn and is super soft.

Crochet Headband

Image
I have been wanting to make this flower headband pattern I found on Ravelry for a while and I finally did it yesterday. It is crochet so it didn't take me long at all. It came out really cute, although I might make another and modify the pattern to make a smaller flower, because I have a small head!

Crocheted Baby MaryJanes

Image
I have been looking at this pattern for a while and wanting to complete it. The pattern is Baby Maryjane Skimmers by Sylvia Schuchardt. I saw the pattern on Ravelry and headed over to her Etsy Store and bought the pattern along with 2 other baby shoe patterns. I made these for my cousin Shelley's daughter. The are so fast and easy and require little yarn. I am going to make a ton of these in different colors.

A Blanket for baby Hayden

I finally finished the baby blanket I was was making for Jen and Alex's little boy thats on the way. Just in time too. She is dues October 9th. I ran out of yarn so I had to order more online, it came in a few days ago and I took most of my day sunday and part of this morning to finish it up. Tomorrow it will be headed for Spain, and hopefully it will make it there before little Hayden. I crocheted it using the Little V-stitch Blanket pattern from the Lion Brand website. I used Lion Brand Cotton Ease yarn in Lime.

A Cat Hat

Image
Emma's school was having a spirit week last week in honor of Dr. Seuss ' birthday. One day was silly hat day. We were unable to find any silly hat's at the mall, so I decided to improvise and make Emma a kitty cat hat. I crocheted it since that was the fastest, I feel asleep before it was done and then woke up at 2:30 am and realized I hadn't finished it! So I stayed up until 5 am, because she needed it for that day. Here is a picture of the final product.

Military Schools are fun!............ NOT

Image
For the past week I have been in Massachusetts doing Phase 2 of my NonCommisioned Officer BNCOC Course. And I just have to say I can't wait until its over! The school house is so disorganized and so is the course material. We are using Army Regulations that were changed years ago! Half the things we are learning to do, have changed. Come on people its not that hard to update the class. Going to Noncommisioned Officer courses are supposed to be about enhancing your skill level and we are learning old ways that haven't been used in years, so how is that supposed to make us any better at our jobs? Whatever it is a nice break from work. Plus I have been doing a lot of knitting in class, because half the time we sit here for hours at a time and do nothing. Not to mention that fact that it has been snowing for the past 4 days and it is cold as all hell. I have seen more snow here in the past 4 days then I have seen all winter at my house. I have managed to make a scraf, baby booties ...
