Another Hand Spun

Image
I spun up another batch of Shunklies Fine Merino Roving in Pinks and Teals. Here is a picture of the wonderful roving that I got from www.shunklies.etsy.com Here is the roving after I spun it up on my Ashford Drop Spindle. It's thick and thin mostly thick.

Emma's Tooth Fairy Pillow

Image
About a week or so ago I was talking to Emma on the phone and she told me that she has a loose tooth! This is her first one, its all exciting and sad at the same time. Exciting for obvious reasons and sad because she is probably going to loose her first tooth when I am not there. But I decided to make the best of it and knit her a tooth fairy pillow from a pattern I found on Ravelry. It's shaped like a tooth and has a little pocket on the back to hold the tooth. She of course is excited that I made it for her and I can't wait until she gets it in the mail! Front View Back View

Two Christmas Knit Hats

Image
I knit two hats for my Secret Santa partner with my group of friends here on deployment. I knit my first brim hat with Bernat Alpaca in Cream. The brim took a lot of shaping with water, I think it came out great overall. Everyone that saw it was impressed that I knit it. I also knit her a simple basic knit hat that I have made a few of, but I put a Norwegian Star pattern on it. This was my first time knitting a design into a piece, and it didn't come out prefect but I think it looks good overall. Natalie trying on her new hat. The Norwegian Star hat.

Happy Birthday First Sergeant

Image
So I must say that we have one of the best First Sergeants that our unit has ever had (and I am not just saying that because we have been friends for years before he was the Top Dog). His lovely wife JoAnn emailed me a few days before his birthday and asked if we could do a little something for him over here. Unfortunately we couldn't do it on his actual birthday because he got delayed on a trip to Iraq, but we did it a few days after that. A bunch of us chipped in and got him his very first IPOD. Welcome to the 21st century! Opening the card from his wife.
