I ran out of yarn so I had to order more online, it came in a few days ago and I took most of my day sunday and part of this morning to finish it up. Tomorrow it will be headed for Spain, and hopefully it will make it there before little Hayden. I crocheted it using the Little V-stitch Blanket pattern from the Lion Brand website. I used Lion Brand Cotton Ease yarn in Lime.

Free Books for Kids

Another site I visit every day. You should too! The Literacy Site is dedicated to funding free books for children. On average, over 80,000 individuals from around the world visit the site each day to click the "Click Here to Give - it's FREE" button. To date, more than 87 million visitors have helped provide more than 1.6 million books to children who need them the most. Within the U.S., access to books is essential to reading development: the only variable that directly correlates with reading scores is the number of books in the home. However, most recent data describes a profound, even shocking gap: while the ratio of books to children in middle-income neighborhoods is approximately 13 books to 1 child, the ratio in low-income neighborhoods is 1 book to 300 children.* In addition, over 80 percent of childcare centers serving low-income children lack age-appropriate books. Together, The Literacy Site and its domestic partner, First Book, provide children from low-incom

The Animal Rescue Site

Another wonderful website where you can click for free to help give food to unwanted animals in shelters. I visit this everyday! Also if you make purchases from their store, the proceeds go to help even more animals! "The Animal Rescue Site focuses the power of the Internet on a specific need — providing food for some of the 27 million unwanted animals given to shelters in the U.S. every year. Over 10 million animals are put to death every year in the U.S. alone because they are abandoned and unwanted. Each click on the purple " Click Here to Give - it's FREE" button at The Animal Rescue Site provides food and care for a rescued animal living in a shelter or sanctuary. Funding for food and care is paid by site sponsors and distributed to animals in need at the Fund for Animals' renowned animal sanctuaries (including Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch in Texas and the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in California), pet shelters supported by the Petfinder Founda

These organizations work to preserve rainforest land in Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Paraguay and other locations worldwide. On average, over 35,500 individuals from around the world visit the site each day to click the green " Click Here to Give - it's FREE" button. There are a few things that I have been very passionate about lately my family, my knitting and the environment and helping the people of Tibet. I always try to send out emails or talk to different people about such issues as the environment and human rights. But sometimes I don't feel like talking! So in the past few months I have been getting the word on such issues out there, by wearing it!

And the Green Goes On

Image
Am I weird or something for not wanting to use plastic bags, because they are bad for the environment ? Is American the only country that recycles? Well the other day when I was a the mall in Kuwait, I was at the American store Forever 21 and they had reusable shopping bags so I decided to buy one to put my purchases in. When I told the girl at the counter that I wanted to use the bag for my purchase and not a plastic bag, she looked at me like I had 3 eyes! She said "what? how many bags are you going to carry?" I wanted to say just put the shit in the bag dumbass ! With the amount of litter I have seen all over Kuwait in their cities, I have come to the conclusion that they don't recycle or know anything about taking care of the environment ! I wanted to share a picture of the wonderfully stylish reusable shopping bag that I carried all over that Kuwaiti Mall.

As some of you may know, I love cute shoes. Well heels actually I don't care much for other types of shoes, but I love heels. A few days ago I got to go to the biggest Mall in the world, the Avenues Mall in Kuwait. And I found a store with the cutest shoes ever. I immediately fell in love when I saw these great pink satin shoes! So I had to get two pairs. One in pink and one in black.
