Felt the need to vent & share

The news of the protests and the state of Tibet have been quite disturbing to me lately. I was not very familiar with how bad the communist Chinese government was to Tibet until I actually started doing so research lately. As most of you know China took over the country of Tibet in 1949 with little resistance. Mostly in part to the deep roots of Buddhism in the country, they believe in nonviolence. Among hundreds of ways that China had failed to "better" this country, as they said their intent for taking over, there was on instance that totally grabbed my attention and I can’t stop thinking about it so I wanted to share. The following is what one thing I read on the website for the International Campaign for Tibet some of the info I also copied from other online sources.

A little background on the situation The 14Th Dalai Lama, who is the highest spiritual leader, of Tibetan Buddhist was exiled to India in 1959 due to the Chinese take over of the government. The Panchen Lama is the second highest Lama after the Dalai Lama.
Following the unexpected death of the 10Th Panchen Lama in 1989, the search for his reincarnation quickly became mired in political controversy. Chadrel Rinpoche, the head of the search committee, was able to secretly communicate with the Dalai Lama. However, after the Dalai Lama announced Gedhun Choekyi Nyima as the new Panchen Lama, Chinese authorities arrested Chadrel Rinpoche, and replaced him with Sengchen Lobsang Gyaltsen. Sengchen had been a political opponent of the previous Panchen Lama. The new search committee decided to ignore the Dalai Lama’s announcement and choose the Panchen Lama from a list of finalists, which did not include Gedhun Choekyi Nyima. Gyalsten Norbu was announced as the search committee’s choice on November 11, 1995. Determined to control religion in Tibet, the Chinese authorities kidnapped Gedhun Choekyi Nyima and his family in 1995 just days after he was recognized as the Panchen Lama., He was 6 years old. He is growing up under house arrest. Despite repeated appeals to gain access to him, no international agency or human rights organization has been granted contact with the young Panchen Lama or His family. Suspicions that he had been kidnapped were confirmed in 1996, when the Chinese government admitted to holding the boy and his family in "protective custody." After repeated attempts to locate and visit the boy, not one international agency or human rights organization has been allowed to meet with the Panchen Lama or his family, and their condition remains uncertain. He will turn 18 years old on April 25Th this year.

This just shows what a shitty Humans Right policy China has, even though they claim to be fair. Yet they won’t let foreign media in to Tibetan protests, and they lie about the number of people they have killed. So I have decided NOT to buy anymore products made in China! Our country has already "borrowed" billions of dollars from them to fund George Bush’s war, they don’t need anymore and they certainly aren’t getting anymore of my families money! Ok I am done venting.
